Kaffarah

Fulfill Your Kaffarah with Outreach In The Barrio

Kaffarah is required when a fast in Ramadan is intentionally broken without a valid reason. It is a serious act of accountability, but also a profound opportunity for mercy.

In Islam, Kaffarah is fulfilled by feeding sixty people in need for each intentionally broken fast.

At Outreach In The Barrio, your Kaffarah directly provides hot meals and food support to our unsheltered and low-income neighbors across Houston. What began as a mistake can become an act of compassion that nourishes dozens of lives.

How much is Kaffarah for Ramadan 2026?

To atone for the intentionally broken fast, you must fast continuously for 60 days. However, if you are unable to do that, then you have to feed 60 poor people at a rate of $5 per person. As a result, this amounts to $300 for each missed/intentionally broken fast.

Kaffarah for breaking a promise in Islam

Paying a kaffarah is also necessary for breaking a promise/oath. Therefore, for redemption of a broken oath, you must ask Allah for forgiveness, and pay the amount equivalent to feeding 10 people at a rate of $5 per person. As a result, this amounts to $50 for each broken promise.

Through your Kaffarah:

  • 60 individuals receive nourishing meals
  • Families facing hunger are supported
  • Dignity is restored in our community
  • Accountability becomes impact

Kaffarah is not only about correcting what happened, it is about transforming it into mercy.

Let your act of repentance become relief for someone who would otherwise go without.

May your intention be sincere, your repentance accepted, and your giving multiplied in reward.
