Winter relief
Outreach In The Barrio collaborates as an official partner with the City of Houston during winter when temperatures drop to life-treating conditions.
How do we help?
By providing life-saving winter essentials that include 30-degree sleeping bags and all winter gear with thermal support. (Winter hats, beanie hats, neck and face scarfs, hand and foot warmers, thermal socks, emergency blankets, thermal blankets, jackets, sweaters, etc.
Beat the heat
Did you know that people experiencing homelessness often confront the elements without adequate shelter? Many are unable to access air-conditioned facilities, which can expose them to extreme heat that can lead to serious health issues, including heatstroke, and in some cases, heat-related fatalities.
How do we help?
Outreach In The Barrio provides resources to ease the scorching heat, such as cooling towels, cold water, electrolytes, snow cones, vitamin C, hand fans, etc.
Emergency Crisis Response
Since 2017 we are prepared to act during the hurricane season and any other disaster that may strike.
From 2020 Covid, we served 300 meals daily for 90 days.
How do we help?
By hand-delivering scarce resources, such as diapers, formula & powdered milk, water, bleach, and non-perishables.
